The Jefferson Suite

Located on the 2nd floor of the adjoining townhouse, Thomas Jefferson himself would appreciate this roomy suite. The sitting room was designed with comfort in mind, providing a perfect place to read a book or share conversation with friends. The bedroom features an inviting king-sized canopy bed. Depending on which of the four windows guests look out, they are provided with views of Main Street or the courtyard. The private bathroom has a shower. ($149 to $259)

The Dinsmore Room
Located on the 2nd floor of the main house, we named this room (and the inn) after Thomas Jefferson's master builder, James Dinsmore. When Mr. Dinsmore designed the home he must have had grand plans for these large quarters. We won't give the exact dimensions of the room, but let's just say it manages to dwarf the king-sized, hand-carved, mahogany canopy bed. The room has a sitting area and a claw-foot soaking tub and separate shower in the private bathroom. ($149 to $259)

The Madison Room
The Madison is located on the rear of the building, on the 2nd floor of the Main House. Decorated in a classic colonial toile with colorful Buxton Blue paint, this room is large, bright and airy. Relax in the two armchairs, perfect for reading, conversation or watching a movie. The king-sized four poster bed is welcoming and plush. The private bathroom has shower. ($139 to $259)

A subtle tribute to the University of Virginia, this beautiful room tastefully incorporates the school colors (orange and blue) in its decadent fabrics. The Sleeping Porch
When the Dinsmore House was built two centuries ago, Charlottesville was a sleepy little town in the middle of rural Virginia. This lovely porch room with wrap around windows reminds us of those simpler times. The room, featuring a queen-sized brass bed, makes up for its smaller size with ample character and charm.
